9 Questions Every First Time Homebuyer Has | Part 2

Posted by Tim Weisheyer on Jul 11, 2016 12:40:00 PM

We recently shared part one in this series – it included five questions (and answers!) every first time homebuyer has before they start their home search. Don’t forget something we said then, too… Your Realtor® is a great resource when it comes to getting your questions answered, which is exactly why we’re here today.

So, just what are the other common questions every first time homebuyer has before they start their home search?

first time homebuyer questionsWhat type of home should I buy (townhome, condo, single-family)?

Well, the answer to this question really depends on your needs and wants. Are you looking for something that has less maintenance and little yard work? Then a condo or townhome is probably for you. Maybe you’re looking to spread out inside the home with lots of bedrooms and bathrooms, and outside the home with at least an acre of property? Well, most likely a single-family home would be the ideal home for you. After sitting with your Realtor®, he or she should be able to take your list of needs and wants and come up with a list of the perfect type of homes for you to search from. We want to remind you, though, talking with your Realtor® about the costs associated with each type of home is something you should do at this time, too!

What are the costs associated with owning a home?

Buying a home and owning a home are two very different things. While there are certain costs associated with the purchase of your new home, there is another set of costs associated with actually owning a home. Not planning for these can lead to financial hardships. Things like utilities, lawn care, pool supplies and homeowners’ association (HOA) dues that aren't included in your monthly mortgage payment can add up. Also, while owning a home is one of the best financial investments you will make in your life, you need to save money for general maintenance and home repairs to preserve it.

What location should I look in?

Central Florida is a booming area, with tons of neighborhoods to choose from. There are established areas that have been lived in for a number of years by residents of the community; conversely, there are new communities being developed in emerging areas of Central Florida just looking for the right people to call them home. We actually talk about many popular Central Florida neighborhoods in our free eBook (that you can find here). Some things to consider when finding the right location for you are access to major roads, shopping, restaurants and other amenities you deem important. Your Realtor® will know where these important amenities are located and can help you find just the right place to call home.

How does the process work?

There is a lot that goes into the home buying process, but at Dream Builders Realty, we do our best to make the process easy and as stress-free as possible. There are six steps in the home buying process and we promise to be there for you every step of the way.
