Poinciana road widening brings some traffic relief to Osceola County residents

Posted by Tim Weisheyer on Jul 31, 2014 10:48:00 AM

Nobody likes getting stuck in traffic, especially when it’s close to home. Being late to work or getting held up at the end of a long day is never fun. If you are an Osceola County resident who lives in the Poinciana area, you’ll be happy to know this problem is on the mend. In a news release that went out on Wednesday, the county announced ground breaking on a road widening projected for a portion of Poinciana Boulevard.

County Commissioner, Michael Harford, said, “I am excited that work widening this section of Poinciana Boulevard is underway. It will improve the flow of traffic for residents in the area and those who live in Poinciana, saving them time.” If you live in this area, we are sure you agree.

The $8 million project will add two lanes between Oren Brown Road and north of the railroad crossing near U.S. Highway 17-92.  This road widening in Osceola County is the last section of Poinciana Boulevard between U.S. 17-92 and U.S. 192 to be improved to four lanes. The project starts now and is set to be finished within a 10-month time frame. This time next year, you should be smooth sailing when it comes to commuting on the north portion of Poinciana Boulevard.

The widening of this section of Poinciana Boulevard will help homeowners and buyers by cutting down on the long commute for residents.
