Holidays You'll Love When Living in Celebration, Florida

Posted by Tim Weisheyer on Oct 28, 2016 5:20:58 PM

While many of us may be gearing up to deck the halls with Thanksgiving decor, and then our Christmas favorites, we’re probably not the only ones looking forward to this time of year. If you’ve ever visited Celebration, Florida, you know that its residents love partaking the holidays, too. The whole town really comes together anytime there is something to celebrate (hence its name)...

So, what holidays do you think you'd enjoy the most living in Celebration, Florida?

Everything fall – including Founders' Day

During fall in the town of Celebration, you can drive the tree-lined streets of each neighborhood and find the front porches of houses covered in fall foliage and pumpkins galore. One of the local churches hosts a pumpkin patch, and many non-residents pay a visit to pick a pumpkin or two and enjoy the scenery.

Residents and non-residents alike can attend the Fall Festival, which includes everything from live music and bounce houses to arts and crafts and even face painting. Oktoberfest is also celebrated the same weekend as the Fall Festival in Celebration, with “falling leaves” on Market Street, more live music and delicious food.

Finally, Celebration residents also pay homage to the founding of their little town during November when they celebrate Founders' Day. This year even marks the 20th anniversary!

Christmas is a holiday worth celebrating

Celebration, Florida is THE PLACE to visit come Christmas time, and anyone who’s anyone in the Orlando area knows it’s because of their iconic “falling snow” on Market Street. Similar to the falling leaves a month prior, Celebration releases “snow” (actually made from soap), turning its little part of sunny Florida into a winter wonderland for kids—young and old—to play in the entire month of December.

On top of the snow flurries, Celebration residents, friends and outsiders can enjoy strolling carolers, photos with Santa, horse drawn carriage rides, train rides, and ice skating, making it a true throwback to the traditional family-style holiday.

A memorable Easter party

While some of the events that take place in Celebration are open to the public, there are certain traditions reserved for residents only. Every year for Easter, the town puts on an egg hunt for the young residents of the community and their families. During this annual event, 20,000 eggs are “hidden”, and a DJ provides music for all during the hunt. The Easter Bunny even pays the kids a visit, and parents can enjoy snapping photos of all the fun.

4th of July, the Celebration way

Community residents, various groups and local businesses participate in Celebration’s “hometown” themed parade to celebrate our nation’s birthday every Fourth of July. During this time, there is live music, an official announcer and awards handed out for the most patriotic floats and participants. Between the parade and the fireworks on Fourth of July night, many residents enjoy hosting backyard cookouts with friends and family. It’s a true American summer celebration!
