What to Expect as an Executive Living in Orlando and Communities to Call Home

Posted by Tim Weisheyer on Jan 5, 2017 11:31:47 AM

While Florida is known for its theme parks and beaches, there is more to be said for the Sunshine State than a place for families to come together and have fun.

In 2016, Florida was ranked number two in the nation for business according to Chief Executive Magazine’s Best and Worst States for Business issue. It’s no surprise, seeing as Florida added more than 1 million private-sector jobs over the last five years and only continues to grow.

From real estate to health care to technology and tourism, Florida has plans for growth in all of these areas over the coming years, making it a place many new executives will call home.

Some of the most notable areas for growth in Central Florida in 2017 and beyond are listed here:

  • Work has begun on the new southern terminal complex at the Orlando Executive Airport, part of a massive $3 billion master plan, which will give the region more leisure and business travel opportunities.

  • Osceola County will be debuting the new International Consortium for Advanced Manufacturing Research next spring, which will focus on development of smart sensors. Smart sensors are set to have a global impact of $154 billion by 2020!

  • The Margaritaville Resort Orlando, with plans for 187 rooms, one thousand vacation homes and 300 time share units, will redefine experiential travel in Orlando through an immersive destination resort experience, and is slated to have its first phase complete late this year.

  • Continued growth in Medical City is planned, from research to teaching to treatment – Lake Nona’s impact on Central Florida has already been substantial in the last few years, with no plans on stopping anytime soon.

When relocating to Orlando for one of these projects, what can executives expect?

The Orlando Executive Airport

Known as Orlando’s original airport, Orlando Executive Airport is located just three miles from the business and financial center of Central Florida. It boasts convenient access to all of Orlando’s major highways and offers what they dub “door-to-door” service, making the transition from air to ground transportation easy. With 24-hour service and numerous restaurants, hotels, shopping and theaters within a three-mile radius, executives can find anything they could possibly need when traveling in and out of Orlando.

The Orange County Convention Center

One of the largest convention centers in the country, the Orange County Convention Center boasts over 7 million square feet of exhibition, meeting, breakout and ballroom space. As of January 2015, there were 818 events planned with an estimated 11.9 million attendees booked through 2035. During this timeframe, these events will generate approximately $22.1 billion in economic impact.

The Mall at Millenia

Known for its extraordinary shopping experience, the mall offers 150 of the world’s finest stores, services and eateries. It features an international collection of luxury brands including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Cartier and more.
