8 Popular Central Florida Neighborhoods

Posted by Tim Weisheyer on Apr 17, 2014 8:30:00 PM

When considering relocation to Central Florida, you might ask yourself things like, “where is the best area to move?” or “which neighborhood is the best fit for me?”. These are important questions because making a move to a new place can be unsettling, especially if its an area you are not familiar with. We have picked 8 of the most popular neighborhoods in Central Florida to highlight in hopes to help your relocation to our area that much easier.

  • Lake Nona. Lake Nona is one of the most up and coming areas in Central Florida. With the new “Medical City” calling Lake Nona home, there has been an influx of families and professionals moving into this area. What was once miles and miles of uninhabited land is now replaced with newly constructed neighborhoods, golf communities, shopping centers, and schools. In addition to the Nemours Children’s Hospital, VA Medical Center, and Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute, there is also a new campus for Valencia College and the UCF College of Medicine Medical Education Building along with tons of hip & happening restaurants such as Nona Blue, and plans for an outdoor shopping center to top all shopping centers.

  • Winter Garden. Just 14 miles west of downtown Orlando, the historic downtown offers a collection of restaurants, shops, cafes, museums, and a performing arts venue. There is also an open-air shopping center with a wide array of chain shops and restaurants. Winter Garden is also situated along the West Orange Trail, a 22-mile multi-use trail for walking, biking, picnicking and more.
  • Solivita. A 55+ community that has been named one of the Nation’s Top 50 Master-Planned 55-Plus Communities by Where to Retire Magazine three consecutive times. The property is situated on 4,300 acres and boasts 150,000 square feet of amenities offered to its residents such as golf, state of the art fitness programs, various dining options, and more. Just minutes from Kissimmee and a 30-minute drive to Walt Disney World & the Orlando International Airport, it is situated in one of the bests locations in Central Florida.Solivita
  • Celebration. Considered by some to be new urbanism (walkable neighborhoods containing a range of housing and job types) Celebration has all the amenities anyone could ask for in a neighborhood while holding on to its small-town charm. Celebration boasts that residents are able to “live, work, and play,” all within their community. Having a local school is an added bonus for families with children who reside in Celebration. There are a wide variety of activities and events offered in Celebration, such as a July 4th parade, annual neighborhood yard sale, and “falling snow” at Christmas, just to name a few.
  • Harmony. Another one of the newer communities in Central Florida, Harmony is located on the east side of Osceola County and only a short drive from the beaches along Florida's Atlantic coast. It is Central Florida's largest green-certified community committed to environmentally-sensitive practices and centers its vision around living in closer contact with pets, wildlife and nature. There is a 12.5 mile network of connected walking paths and an 18-hole golf course among the vast open space they have set aside as preservation areas. Harmony also hosts many community and seasonal events such as the Dark Sky Festival, Music & Arts Festival, and Winter Festival to name a few.
  • Bellalago. Located on more than a mile of shoreline along Lake Tohopekeliga in Kissimmee, Bellalago is a great community for fishing and boating. Nestled behind the picturesque Mediterranean-themed, 24-hour, manned and gated community entrance lies direct access to Lake Toho, a junior Olympic pool, kids pool, and water park. For sports lovers, there is tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts just waiting to be taken advantage of as well as a community fitness center. Bellalago is located in an Educational Facilities Benefit District and proudly offers its residents guaranteed enrollment in the highly coveted Bellalago Academy ( K-8 school).Bellalago
  • Hunter's Creek. A more established neighborhood community on the Osceola/Orange County line, Hunter's Creek consists of many neighborhoods, parks, schools, and a golf club. Recognized by CNN/Money and Money magazine as one of the 100 best places to live in the United States, Hunter's Creek is central to many big-name stores such as Target, Home Depot, and Walmart Marketplace and dozens of small shops and restaurants. It is also a stones throw away from The Loop - a popular shopping, dining and entertainment center located in Osceola County. From Hunter's Creek you can easily access major roads such as John Young Parkway and the 417 toll road, making the drive into Orlando and throughout Central Florida an easy one.
  • Windermere. Located near the popular Butler Chain of Lakes, Windermere is considered an upscale area of Orlando, boasting gated communities, private schools and world famous golf courses. Situated south west of Orlando, it is convenient to downtown Orlando and the area attractions, but leaves you with that small town feel so many prefer. Windermere has a great mix of communities, shopping, and dining and has been home to many professional athletes, business magnates and celebrities.
With a list like that, narrowing down the right place to relocate to in Central Florida should be a little easier now. However, to give you a better idea of the features and amenities each of these neighborhoods has to offer, we've decided to spotlight each one in a monthly neighborhood feature. It will be like a virtual tour of all the neighborhood has to offer, starting in May, so be on the look out!
