Yes, you read that right...it's September! And although it might not really feel like it here in Florida, the calendar tells us we are heading into fall. With that (besides the cooler weather we are all crossing our fingers for) comes a never ending list of events in Central Florida, making the months ahead a fun time for all, especially those who love getting outside and enjoying the fall-like weather that we’ll eventually start to experience. We’ve got a rundown of some of our favorite annual events to add to your calendar this month.
The 5th Annual Orlando Fall Home & Garden Show
This weekend, September 5th-7th at the Orange County Convention Center, you can take all your home & garden to-do’s and put them into action as you walk through aisle after aisle of inspiring home and landscape displays. Area vendors (including local experts and beyond showcasing the latest in products and services for everything from builders, contractors, materials, decks, pools, spas, entertainment systems, storage, plants, landscape displays/materials, kitchenware, and much more) will be set up with free samples, giveaways and demonstrations. At the show you can also visit the Kids’ Zone, Live Birds of Prey & Pet Zone, and various seminars. For every first time homebuyer (and any homeowner) this is something you should experience at least once. We are betting you’ll leave with a new appreciation for homeownership and a new home to-do list that might very well stretch a mile long!
Epcot International Food and Wine Festival
Not only does this take place at one of the happiest places on Earth, but it revolves around tasty food and drinks—who wouldn’t love it?! Each fall, Epcot transforms its park to house dozens of unique flavors and fun experiences, as guests tour through over 25 global marketplaces. At each venue you can enjoy culinary masterpieces, sip on perfect drinks and try desserts that are sure to delight your taste buds. Besides the taste-testing events offered, there are also chances to sign up for culinary boot camp and other food-inspired demonstrations and seminars.
The perfect pairing with food and drinks is music and Epcot offers their Eat to the Beat Concert Series with sounds from the 70s, 80s and 90s and nightly performances from Jo Dee Messina, Sister Hazel, Boyz II Men and more.
The Epcot International Food and Wine Festival takes place September 19th through November 10th, admission to Epcot is required for participation in the festival, but some experiences require a separate admission fee. Be sure to plan ahead before you go!
Harmony Music Festival
This weekend long event features a wide variety of artists in an outdoor juried art festival (the lucky winner being awared $5,000!) with various live music performances, a children’s area, food, vendors and more. The food ranges from BBQ to Caribbean food to pizza and fair style food, making it easy to find something that sounds appetizing. A beer garden will also be on site for those adults looking to cool off with something refreshing.
With Harmony’s main goal of their community being to preserve the environment, this festival is one you will be able to experience the true beauty of the area that Harmony has to offer while listening to great music, trying out good food and shopping your way around local vendors. Brent Byrd, Slickwood and the Greg Warren Band are just some of the live performances (from jazz to rock to country and acoustic sounds) you can jam out to during this 2-day event taking place September 27th and 28th. And if you are looking to keep in shape, you can even partake in a 5k glow run on Saturday evening, with proceeds benefiting Harmony High School athletics.
