At Dream Builders Realty, we know the importance of taking an active role in the community we serve. One way we do this is through the support of local education. Our series on school features shows exactly what this area has to offer when it comes to education.

Our last DBR School Spotlight featured Koa Elementary School, and while we have many more elementary schools around the county to share, we thought it may be fun to look at a local middle school this week!

Located in Kissimmee off Ham Brown Road, Horizon Middle School is the home of the Eagles. This middle school has been open since the 1995-1996 school year, making this school year its twentieth year in the Osceola County School District. It is a traditional middle school, grades six through eight.

Here's the school's mission statement:

"Horizon Middle School strives to develop self-confident and creative students willing to take risks within a challenging and innovative environment."

Horizon Middle School is an AVID School, which means it:

  • Teaches skills and behaviors for academic success
  • Provides intensive support with tutorials and strong student/teacher relationships
  • Creates a positive peer group for students
  • Develops a sense of hope for personal achievement gained through hard work and determination

It also boasts STEM education where science, technology, engineering, and mathematics play a huge role in student achievement.

Horizon Middle School was nominated by Walt Disney World to take part in the nationally-acclaimed K-12 STEM Educational Outreach Program – Viva Technology – in 2015.
